For Nuit Blanche 2020, the Year of Culture Qatar-France presented the artist Ghada Al Khater in a digital, interactive, and multi-sensory installation. Qatar Museums were present at the Nuit Blanche as part of the France-Qatar Crossyear with a monumental interactive installation, Jardin de Lumière, born of an international collaboration between Qatari artist Ghada Al Khater and the Parisian studio Bonjour Lab. The installation at the Kiosque des Champs Elysées invited the viewer to travel with a contemporary reinterpretation of the Persian carpet. Inspired by flora and fauna of Qatar and the motifs of traditional rugs, the Garden of Light illuminated visitors’ footsteps. Between nature and heritage, the Garden of Light visitors discovered lush nature beneath their feet as they walked along the surface. An international collaboration, the production combined French know-how in creative technology and Qatari sensitivity to nature and the heritage of the Middle East.
